Audio-Technica USB Direct-Drive Professional Turntable
(USB & Analog)
The Audio-Technica AT-LP 120X USB professional direct-drive turntable builds on the success of the popular AT-LP 120 USB turntable. This updated record player incorporates USB connectivity for direct output to a computer. This feature makes it easy to digitize your record collection. They also added a new DC servo direct-drive motor to the new model.
Further improvements include an adjustable anti-skate control & selectable phono preamp. Even with all its upgrades, this turntable sports the familiar look and feel of the beloved 1200-style DJ turntable made famous by Technics.
Solid construction with high-fidelity sound
This professional turntable has a rugged body and a die-cast aluminum platter. Its heavy-duty construction helps limit vibration, resonance, and feedback for improved sound quality. A hinged dustcover protects the turntable and can close while a record is playing. The quartz-controlled pitch slider lets you fine-tune the speed at which a record is played.
High-performance phono cartridge and stylus
The AT-LP120X USB direct-drive professional turntable features an S-shaped tonearm with an adjustable tracking force. It is fitted with an AT-HS6 universal 1/2" mount headshell with an AT-VM95E Dual Magnet phono cartridge. The cartridge uses an elliptical stylus, but is also compatible with any VM95 Series replacement stylus. This elliptical stylus is great for all-around listening and is easy on your vinyl. A plug-in target light illuminates the record so you can see exactly where to place the needle.
With a layout that is immediately familiar to professional DJs and audiophiles, this updated turntable features a simple on/off dial, start/stop button and speed selector buttons.
A simple button beside the pitch slider locks the pitch at zero. Select from either 78, 45 or 33-1/3 RPM speeds with user-friendly buttons. An adapter is also included, which allows you to play 7” 45 RPM records. The turntable’s stroboscopic platter and speed indicator let you check the platter’s rotation speed and verify its consistency.
Switchable preamp, detachable RCAs and USB
Listen to your favorite vinyl by connecting the AT-LP 120X USB to external speakers using RCA ports on the rear connection panel. Thanks to a switchable preamp, you can connect the turntable to external stereo components, whether they have a dedicated phono output or not. Detachable RCA plugs mean easier maintenance in the long run. A convenient USB output makes it simple to convert your record collection to high-resolution digital files using any laptop or desktop computer.

This is a great value ! The Audio-Technica continues to rock my world. It plays 33 1/3s , 45s, and even 78s. It operates flawlessly. And there have been no incidences of tone arm meandering or anything like that. This is an excellent turntable and at $350 it's an absolute steal.
Voted #1 of the Top Ten Record Players under $500--outperforming many higher-priced players.
A direct-drive turntable at about half the price of its competition. Connects directly to your receiver or speakers for maximum sound quality.
Note: The features are identical on both the Black or Silver AT LP 120X USB models.
Does the Audio Technica LP USB 120X need speakers?
Yes, as this turntable has no built-in speaker. But it does have its own built-in amp. So you don't need an individual amp or amp/receiver. But you do have to have a speaker with its own power source, like computer speakers or some of the larger portable stereo speakers that are readily available.
After spending over 62 total hours comparing turntables and measuring their performance using $30,000+ worth of equipment, we’ve determined that the Audio Technica 120X USB is the best turntable for most people. It is highly adjustable, has a built-in phono preamp for hassle-free setup, sounds great out of the box, and even has a built-in USB port if you want to digitize your LP collection. It’s also very speed accurate, according to our tests. Why do our tests matter so much? Because we found competitors in this space that exhibited audible speed shifts at least 2x worse than what their specs claim. The Audio Technica 120X USB is the best because it sounds great, includes a phono preamp, is very flexible
speed accurate, and it lets you digitize your LP collection. The Audio Technica is a great entry-point for the vinyl enthusiast and shines even when matched against a table costing twice as much.
Its sound quality with the included cartridge and integrated preamp is excellent. With high-quality source material, it has the ability to present a quiet background with very good channel separation and vocal clarity. The more records I play on the 120X, the more I find myself appreciating it.
